Robert Louis

Robert Louis (born February 20, 1902 in Douai , † September 22, 1965 in Vincennes ) was a French heraldry .

In the French philatelic he became famous because it the French coat of arms - stamp series had checked 1943-1965. These stamps depicted the coats of arms of the old French provinces and some cities. They were engraved by various stamp artists. In 1966, after his death, he was represented by his daughter Mireille Louis for the review of the last three brands in the series ( Auch , Mont-de-Marsan and Saint-Lô ). In 1945 and 1946 ten of his postage stamps appeared in the French zone in Germany. The coat of arms of Baden , the Palatinate , the Rhineland , the Saarland and Württemberg can be seen on these .

Robert Louis also created coats of arms for French departments and communities .
