Robert Mackenzie is an Australian sound engineer .

Life

Mackenzie began his career in the mid-1990s and made his debut with the Taiwanese - Chinese action film Ashes of Time by Wong Kar-Wai . After only two films in the 1990s, his career picked up speed from 2000, and he has subsequently been involved in numerous film productions, including Australian films such as Lantana and Mao's Last Dancer and Chinese such as Hero , Kung Fu Hustle and Red Cliff .

In 2017 he won the Oscar in the Best Sound category for Hacksaw Ridge - The Decision, along with Kevin O'Connell , Andy Wright and Peter Grace . He was also nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Sound Editing that year , but that award went to Arrival . He also received a nomination for the BAFTA Film Award in the Best Sound category , and this award also went to Arrival . Another award for Hacksaw Ridge - The decision was the Satellite Award in the category Best Sound Editing . His other awards include five nominations for the Golden Reel Award , of which he won the award twice.
