Robert Mohr (born May 25, 1978 in Hanover ) is a former German rugby union player and current functionary . He is one of the few German representatives of this team sport who was active in a foreign professional league.
Career
In his early years, Mohr played for DSV Hannover 78 in his hometown . At the age of 20 he came to France in 1999 and from there played for CS Bourgoin . During this time he also took part in the renowned international Heineken Cup as a team member. Until 2012 Mohr also played in France for Atlantique Stade Rochelais in the second-rate professional league Pro D2 , where he was also used as team captain. With the club from La Rochelle , he was promoted to the top 14 professional league in 2010 .
After a short season at Stade Niortais in the third-class amateur league Fédérale 2 , and a farewell game in La Rochelle, Mohr returned to Germany in 2013 . The trained second-row striker initially played for his old home club DSV Hannover 78, but was under contract with Heidelberg RK until the end of his active career .
In addition to his work as a club player, Mohr played for the German national team until 2015 and also took part in the traditional Hannover Sevens for Germany in 2009 . His last appearances as a national player took place during the qualifying round for the Rugby World Cup 2015 .
After his career as a player, Mohr initially worked as a project manager for the Heidelberg- based Wild Rugby Academy , a foundation for the promotion of German rugby that was founded by the entrepreneur Hans-Peter Wild . Between 2017 and 2019 he was the sports director of the French first division club Stade Français Paris . He is currently the sports director of his former club Atlantique Stade Rochelais.
