from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Niemann (born August 23, 1966 in Munich ) is a German economic and football functionary.

After studying business administration and psychology in Munich, he did his doctorate in communication science in Salzburg.

From 1997 to 1999 he was employed as the head of program coordination at Pro Sieben Television Media AG . After that he was on the board of Victory Media AG until 2002 , where he was responsible for worldwide license sales and marketing. From 2002 to 2005 he was with FremantleMedia as Vice President of Sales responsible for the German-speaking countries, Italy and Eastern Europe.

In May 2005, Niemann joined Sony Pictures Television International . There he set up the pay channels AXN and Animax in German-speaking countries. In July 2008 he moved to the DFL . He headed the newly founded subsidiary DFL Enterprises , which is responsible for marketing the Bundesliga around the world. Among other things, Niemann promoted the introduction of the Bundesliga ball from Adidas and was able to double foreign revenues.

On August 1, 2010, Niemann took up his new position as managing director at TSV 1860 Munich . After the failed legal dispute against the stadium lessor FC Bayern Munich under his predecessor Manfred Stoffers , Niemann tried to create a basis for further cooperation. In October 2010, the TSV 1860 was deducted two points from the DFL, as insufficient information was given when the licensing papers were submitted in the spring. Niemann had previously reported the club to the DFL himself, which was, however, controversial in the club's committees. On November 14, 2010, Niemann resigned from his position as managing director at TSV 1860 Munich after 106 and gave "personal reasons".

In his youth, Niemann played handball , went skiing and did gymnastics . Since the age of 12 he has been sailing as a competitive sport. He also plays golf actively today .
