Robert Nyel , actually Robert Niel , (born April 18, 1930 in Grasse ; † November 26, 2016 there ) was a French author, composer, singer, satirical draftsman and painter.

Life

Robert Nyel was a singer and lyricist associated with the composer Gaby Verlor . He became known to the French-speaking audience with at least three chansons: “Ma p´tite chanson” sung by Bourvil in 1960, with “C'etait bien” (“Le p'tit bol perdu”) in 1961 by Bourvil and Juliette Gréco interprets and “Deshabillez-moi”, an indispensable part of Juliette Gréco's repertoire from 1967. Gaby Verlor herself sang the first two tracks that she recorded with Polydor.

His homeland Provence inspired Robert Nyel, as he writes especially in her mind for himself and the singer Robert Ripa from Marseille, who owes his greatest success to him, the song Magali, the refrain of which is written in Provençal. Magali (1962) also belongs to the repertoire of Gloria Lasso, Maria Candido and Maria de Rossi.

In July-August 1966 he was one of the three American stars along with Claire Ferval and Pierre Perret on Charles Aznavour 's tour of France . In 1983 he was accompanied by Claude Rogen , the star of the Radio Gala 20/20 on the stage of the Center International des séjour in Paris.

In addition to music, Robert Nyel, a student at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière , devoted himself to satirical caricatures for “Presse magazine” and “Le Hérisson” and a painting that is known as “solid and expressive” in his hometown of Grasse. He participates in the "Salon of the Super Independent" in 1952, then in the Salon of the Independents of the National Society of Fine Arts. We also owe him the restoration of Jean Cocteau's frescoes in the chapel of St. Pierre in Villefranche-sur-Mer .

Robert Nyel died on November 26, 2016 in Grasse and was buried there in the Sainte-Brigitte cemetery.
