Robert Peterson (production designer)

Robert Peterson (born August 15, 1909 in Idaho Springs , Colorado , † January 10, 1979 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American art director and production designer who was nominated for an Oscar for best production design at the Academy Awards in 1941 .

Life

Peterson began his career as an art director and production designer in the Hollywood film industry for the black and white film Arizona (1940). For this debut film, a western directed by Wesley Ruggles starring Jean Arthur , William Holden and Warren William , he was nominated for an Oscar for best production design together with Lionel Banks .

In the course of his career, which lasted until his death, he worked on the staging of over 100 films, television films and television series .
