Robert Philippi
Robert Philippi (born August 4, 1877 in Graz , Austria-Hungary ; died March 23, 1959 in Vienna ) was an Austrian painter.
Life
Robert Philippi received his first artistic training from the theater painter Robert Kautsky and in the private painting school Streblow in Vienna. From 1893 to 1896 he attended the Vienna Academy with Christian Griepenkerl and Josef Mathias Trenkwald and later the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Felician Myrbach and Alfred Roller . There he became an assistant to Franz Čižek in 1914 and again from 1917 to 1920.
Philippi initially worked in drawing and woodcut, and from 1925 turned increasingly to painting. Philippi is considered to be influenced by the art of Gustav Klimt . He was a member of the Hagenbund until 1925 .
