Robert Rebhahn

Robert Rebhahn (born February 27, 1954 in Linz ; † January 30, 2018 in Vienna ) was an Austrian legal scholar and from 2003 to 2018 university professor for labor and social law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna .

Career

Robert Rebhahn studied law and economics in Vienna and Linz and received his doctorate in 1977 at the University of Linz Dr. iur. After working as a university assistant for civil law, he completed his habilitation at the University of Linz in 1984 .

In 1986 Robert Rebhahn became an associate professor, later a full professor for private law at the University of Klagenfurt . In 1996 he moved to the Humboldt University of Berlin as professor for civil law, labor law and social law .

From 2003 to 2018 Robert Rebhahn was the successor to Theodor Tomandl Professor at the University of Vienna and mainly dealt with labor and social law, whereby - in addition to questions of national law - aspects of comparative law and Union law were dealt with. Recent publications include studies on the federal government's financial responsibility for statutory health insurance (2008), price regulation for pharmaceuticals (2006), the social model in the EU (2009) and the development of welfare in Western Europe (2009). Furthermore, Robert Rebhahn u. a. authored a book on the liability of the state for inadequate security (1997) as well as comments on the service contract and the contract for work.

From 2013 to 2018 Rebhahn was chairman of the university council of the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt .

Rebhahn died on the night of January 30, 2018 after a serious illness.
