Robert Schmitz
Robert Schmitz (born July 1, 1963 ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
The striker made three games for 1. FC Köln between 1985 and 1987. His first appearance for Cologne was in the 1986 UEFA Cup final against Real Madrid . In the 83rd minute, he came on for Karl-Heinz Geils . Due to a stadium closure, this encounter took place in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. Since Cologne had already lost the first leg in Madrid 5-1, the 2-0 victory was worthless. In the first half of the 1987/88 Bundesliga season he was allowed to play twice for FC before moving to BVL 08 Remscheid (now FC Remscheid ) in the 2nd Bundesliga .
