Robert Schmoll

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert Schmoll (born February 24, 1896 in Käfertal , † September 15, 1942 in Stuttgart ) was a German resistance fighter against the Nazi state .

Life

Robert Schmoll came from a working-class family from Käfertal, which became a district of Mannheim in 1897 . After completing his school education, he completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith . He was active in the workers' sport movement and sympathized with the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) without having become a member. Georg Lechleiter was able to win him over to his resistance group in 1941 and found him in his company, Brown, Boveri & Cie. entrust. It was particularly important to Lechleiter to win over non-party members for the distribution of the anti-war publication “Der Vorbote”, because they were not under constant observation by the Gestapo and could act more harmlessly.

The discovery of the Lechleiter group in June 1942, however, also meant for Schmoll that he was arrested and charged before the People's Court . He passed the death penalty on him and 18 other members of the group . On September 15, 1942 he was executed with the guillotine .
