Robert Shy

Robert Shy ( 1939 - November 8, 2018 ) was an American jazz musician ( drums ).

Shy played in the Chicago area since the early 1960s in the local jazz scene; The first recordings were made in 1964 with the band The Three Souls, which he co-founded and led by saxophonist Sonny Cox ( Dangerous Dan Express ). From the 1970s he played a. a. with Roland Kirk , E. Parker McDougal , Richie Cole , Von Freeman , Larry Gray , Willie Pickens , Jodie Christian , John Whitfield , Guy Fricano , Frank Catalano , Harold Ousley and Arthur Hoyle . In the field of jazz, he was involved in 45 recording sessions between 1960 and 2008, most recently with the singer Solitaire Miles . In 2011 he performed at the Chicago Hyde Park Jazz Festival .
