Robert Townsend
Robert Townsend (born February 6, 1957 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American actor , comedian , director and screenwriter .
Career
Townsend was born the second of four children to Robert and Shirley Townsend. As a child he began to imitate various actors and thus entertain his mother.
His real career began in the New York comedy club The Improvisation . From there he went to Hollywood and made the first films. After a while he started writing scripts and directing. He made history at the 2001 NAACP Image Awards. Three of his directors from three different films were nominated for Best Actor / Best Actress .
