Taxman - The Brooklyn Tax Investigator (Original Title: Taxman ) is an American low-budget production from 1999 . Directed by Avi Nesher , who also wrote the script.
action
Al Benjamin is a tax investigator based in Brooklyn, New York. He leads a frustrated life and receives no support from colleagues or superiors at work. Almost discouraged, he observes the Russian mafia, which is apparently securing tax advantages through massive, extortionate purchases of gas stations. An oil company also seems involved. When there are dead people without any consequences, he gets help from a disaffected cop, Joseph Romero, who wants to investigate with him. Several attacks on the Russian petrol station chain owner Andre Rubakov and his family gave him valuable information and this ultimately led to success after further problems with lawyers and authorities.
Trivia
Wade Dominguez died shortly after filming ended, even before the film was released. The film was dedicated to him.
criticism
The lexicon of international films ruled that the film was "tightly staged and credibly played". It is possible to "skillfully operate the tricky riddle of the plot".
