Elizabeth Berkley (born July 28, 1972 in Farmington Hills , Michigan ) is an American television , film and stage actress .

life and career

Berkley grew up in an affluent part of Michigan and attended Cranbrook Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills . At the age of four she took part in dance courses. In the late 1980s, her parents moved her to the Los Angeles area . Shortly thereafter, her fame rose as Jessica "Jessie" Myrtle Spano on the sitcom California High School , in which she starred from 1989-1993. In 1992, Berkley was also featured in two episodes of Baywatch - The Lifeguards of Malibu .

Aside from her role in California High School , Berkley was best known for starring Nomi Malone in the controversial sexploitation film Showgirls, which appeared in 1995 . The film received in the US, a Certificate of NC-17 and played at the American box office, less than half of its 45 million US dollars estimated budget one. He brought Berkley the Golden Raspberry in 1995 as worst actress and is considered Berkley's career low point , despite later success in the video market. On 1 November 2003 Berkley married the artist and actor Greg Lauren , nephew of Ralph Lauren in Cabo San Lucas . In mid-July 2012 they became parents of a son.
