Holly Ceroni is a single mother looking for a man for life. But no matter how she tries, she always has bad luck with the men. As the New Year is just around the corner and she is finally hoping for luck, she buys a lottery ticket. Shortly afterwards, her car and the lottery ticket were stolen in the glove compartment and, as the losing streak wants, Holly's ticket had the right numbers for the jackpot.
The two thieves Mike and Joe had actually only used the car to drive home out of embarrassment and want to bring the car back. The lucky lottery winner is already being reported on television, so Mike and Joe assume that they will be recognized as the new owner of the lottery ticket when they pick up the money. First they secretly put the car back, but they still keep the lot. Mike tries to get acquainted with Holly in order to somehow get the money that he could use to save the small family business. But nothing comes of it, because Mike begins to fall seriously in love with Holly. In order not to endanger that, he sends her the lot anonymously by post. To his astonishment, it doesn't seem to have reached Holly, besides, she discovers his secret and is angry.
Although Mike tries to explain everything to her, she sends him away, but soon realizes how much she and her son Max miss him. When the lottery ticket surprisingly arrives, everything turns for the better. Holly forgives Mike, which is not difficult for her, and realizes that she is finally lucky with him and that he is a real top prize for her at Christmas .

Critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave it a medium rating (thumbs straight) and said the film was: "From the Hallmark sprinkler machine".
