Robert Wetzel (born September 25, 1990 in Rostock ) is a German handball player who is under contract with HC Empor Rostock .

Career

Robert Wetzel played for Bramstedter TS in the regional league until 2010 . After playing for the second division club TSV Altenholz in the 2010/11 season, the 1.96 meter tall goalkeeper moved to SV Post Schwerin in 2011 . When Schwerin filed for bankruptcy in 2012 , Wetzel's contract was terminated and he joined HC Empor Rostock . After playing at Eintracht Hildesheim from the summer of 2014 , he moved to the second division HF Springe in the 2015/16 season. From summer 2016 he was under contract with EHV Aue . In summer 2018 he returned to HC Empor Rostock.

Wetzel won the 2011 U-21 World Cup in Greece with the German national junior team .

Private

Wetzel's brother Tom is also a handball player.
