Tom Wetzel (born September 24, 1991 in Rostock ) is a former German handball player .

Career

Tom Wetzel played for Bramstedter TS in the regional league until 2010 . After he ran up for the second division TSV Altenholz in the 2010/11 season, he moved to league rivals HC Empor Rostock in 2011 . Since the summer of 2015, the 1.97 meter tall back player has played for the first division club HSV Hamburg , with whom he signed a two-year contract. After the insolvency of HSV Hamburg, Wetzel moved to TuS N-Lübbecke in January 2016 . For the 2016/17 season he moved to HSC 2000 Coburg , where he ended his career after the 2017/18 season.

Wetzel played 45 international matches for the German national junior and youth team .

Private

Wetzel's brother Robert is also a handball player.
