Robert Wilhelm Rosellen

Robert Wilhelm Rosellen (born November 30, 1829 in Langenfeld - Richrath , † March 13, 1909 in Cologne ) was a Catholic priest and church historian .

Rosellen was ordained a priest in 1853. At the beginning of 1862 he was appointed parish cooperator of the parish of St. Martin in Fischenich . He was also appointed pastor of this parish in 1865 . Here he worked until the end of 1887, was also the deputy of the dean ( Definitor ) before he left the dean's office in Brühl to also work as a pastor in the Cologne parish of St. Maria Lyskirchen .

History of the parishes of the dean's office in Brühl

Rosellen became known through a comprehensive work on the history of the parishes of the dean's office in Brühl ; this work was published under the title History of the Parishes of the Archdiocese of Cologne, Vol. VI in 1887 by JP Bachem Verlag . Due to its high cultural value, it was included in the collection of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation . It is still one of the standard works of church history in the Archdiocese of Cologne .

The book describes the dean's office in Brühl and the history of its parishes and churches. In addition to Brühl, the Brühl dean's office also included Hürth , Frechen and parts of today's city of Cologne with Rodenkirchen , Sürth and Kriel with the Krieler Dömchen .

Honors

In the Hürth district of Fischenich, below its former parish church, a square was named in honor of Rosellen in 1964.
