Robert de Juliac
Robert de Juliac (also Robert de Juilly, Robertus Iuliacensis, Robertus de Iuli ; † August 10, 1376 ) was a French nobleman and from 1374 until his death in 1376 the 31st Grand Master of the Order of St. John .
He came from the family of the lords of Juilly in Île-de-France, a branch line of the noble family Montmorency (see list of the Montmorency family ).
From 1363 he was Grand Prior of the Order of St. John in France and was elected as his successor as Grand Master in 1374 after the death of Raymond Berenger .
His term of office was marked by the unsuccessful attempt by Pope Innocent VI. to reform the order, in particular the latter intervened in the filling of administrative posts for the European religious branches. These and other effects led to corruption and indiscipline in the European branches, which severely hindered the military's ability to act in Rhodes. So the order was neither able to support King Peter I of Cyprus against attacks by the Genoese in 1374 , nor was King Leon VI in 1375 . of Lesser Armenia from the conquest of his country by the Mamluks , and also not to support the Catalans in Thebes and Athens against the Turks in 1376 .
