Robin John Orlando Bridgeman, 3rd Viscount Bridgeman (born December 5, 1930 ) is a British peer and politician ( Conservative Party ).

life and career

Brigadier Geoffrey Bridgeman's son and Mary Talbot's son , and William Bridgeman's grandson , 1st Viscount Bridgeman , attended Eton College in Berkshire . He served in 1950 and 1951 in the Rifle Brigade , reaching there the rank of second lieutenant ( 2nd Lieutenant ). In the Royal Green Jackets he reached the rank of lieutenant .

1958 Bridgeman sworn accountants ( Chartered Accountant ). In the same year he joined the shipping company P&O as a management trainee and worked in their offices in Hong Kong , Singapore and London . In 1960 Bridgeman moved into stock trading and investing . In 1973 he became a partner at the investment company Fenn & Crosthwaite . In 1975 the company merged with George Henderson to form Henderson Crosthwaite & Co , with Bridgeman as a partner from 1979 to 1986. In 1986, after the company was taken over by the Irish bank Guinness Mahon , he first became a member of the board of directors of Guinness Mahon , where he was director from 1988 to 1990. Bridgeman ended his full-time job in 1992.

From 1988 to 1994 he was also director of Nester-BNA plc . He has also been director of the Bridgeman Art Library since 1972 . Bridgeman was chairman of the Friends of Lambeth Palace Library from 1992 to 2008 and treasurer of the New England Company , a missionary society , from 1996 to 2006 and the Florence Nightingale Aid in Sickness Trust from 1995 to 2006. He was also chairman of the Hospital of St John and St Elizabeth from 1999 to 2007. From 1986 to 1999 he was Special Trustee of the Hammersmith and Queen Charlotte's Hospital Authority .

He was President of the Foundation Appeal of Reed's School from 1992 to 1993 and Chairman from 1995 to 2002. He was Chairman of Asset Management Investment Co plc from 1994 to 2001.

Bridgeman is a Knight of the Sovereign Order of Malta .

Membership in the House of Lords

On November 17, 1982 he inherited the title of his uncle, Robert Bridgeman, 2nd Viscount Bridgeman . This also made him a member of the House of Lords . He is one of the elected hereditary peers who were allowed to keep their seat in the House of Lords under the House of Lords Act 1999 . There he sits for the Conservative Party . He names health , social affairs , environmental policy , domestic policy and local government as his political interests .

He was the opposition whip from 1998 to 2010. From 2001 to 2010 he was Opposition Spokesperson for Home Affairs and from 2001 to 2007 and 2009 to 2010 for Northern Ireland .

family

Bridgeman has been married to Harriet Turton , daughter of Ralph Meredyth Turton, since December 10, 1966 . They have four sons. One of the sons died in 2001.
