The Rocca Roveresca

The Rocca Roveresca is a Renaissance fortress in Senigallia , Marche region . The fortress is named after its builder Giovanni della Rovere , Lord of Senigallia, and was built from 1480 according to plans by Baccio Pontelli , following a project by Luciano Laurana . The Rocca has a square floor plan and four cylindrical corner bastions . A crenellated cornice surrounds the entire fortress, which can only be reached via a long bridge. Today the Rocca Roveresca houses a museum about the history of the castle.
