Rocco Forte

Sir Rocco Forte (born January 18, 1945 in Bournemouth ) is a British hotelier. He runs the Rocco Forte Hotels .

Life

Forte is the son of the hotelier Charles Forte, Baron Forte (1908-2007). He studied New Languages ​​at Pembroke College , Oxford .

In 1992 he took over the Forte Group from his father. In the mid-1990s, Forte Group was threatened by a hostile takeover by investor Granada . In August 1995, Granada took over with an offer of 3.87 billion British pounds. The Rocco family received around £ 350 million from it.

Rocco Forte then founded the hotel chain RF Hotels . In 2001, after Compass Group was merged with Granada in 2000 and then separated again, Rocco Forte was given back the use of the Forte brand as a gesture for the bitter takeover in 1995. The RF Hotels were subsequently renamed Rocco Forte Hotels . Forte bought the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh and Brown's Hotel in London for £ 51.5 million

In mid-2014 Rocco Forte Hotels operated ten hotels in Europe and Russia. The family fortune was estimated at £ 250m in 2013.

Private life

On February 15, 1986, in Rome, he married the twenty-one year old Italian Maria Giovanna Aliai Ricci. With her he has three children Lydia, Irene and Charles. Both spouses are on the Board of Trustees of the London Symphony Orchestra .

An avid athlete, Forte represented Great Britain at the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2007 World Triathlon Championships. In July 2005 he took second place in his category at his first Iron Man participation in Klagenfurt.
