Rock 'n Roll Ride -

Rock 'n Roll Ride is the 2012 released second solo album of Night Ranger - bassist Jack Blades .

background

Jack Blades had released his first solo album in 2004, which had been titled Jack Blades . In 2012 he signed a contract with Frontiers Records and recorded another solo album, which was released on March 23, 2012.

Jack Blades played bass and guitar, with Joel Hoekstra and Will Evankovich as additional guitarists, Evankovich also contributed mandolin and sitar . The Night Ranger guitarist Brad Gillis recorded the guitar solo for the song Say You Will , while cheap trick singer Robin Zander sang the chorus of Anything for You . The rhythm recordings were made by Blades (bass) and drummers Brian Tichy, Kelly Keagy and Alan Hertz.

The album was made before the recording of the Night Ranger album Somewhere in California , but the record company preferred to release the band's work before their singer's solo album. The song Growin 'Up in California , released on the Night Ranger album, was originally written for Rock' n Roll Ride , but Brad Gillis found it better suited to the band and asked Blades to use it on Somewhere in California .

reception

Daniel Böhm wrote for Rocks that the Night Ranger album Somewhere in California shows "even after nine months not the most delicate signs of wear and tear", and now the bassist and singer of the band is "ready with a comparably sunny solo disc", on which next to the " own musical life ride also AC / DC - near riff rock, Tom Petty and above all the Beatles and Cheap Trick " shimmered through. The album was "permeated by the same Californian lightness" that had "pleasantly pimped up the last opus of Blades' main band"; especially in the "hearty moments" the "boundaries to Night Ranger threatened to blur". The actual entertainment value is revealed "rather in the profound numbers that followed the principles of the very best songwriting school". The album is "much better than the 2004 solo debut of the Jack Blade". (5 of 6 points)
