Jack Blades (born April 24, 1954 in Palm Desert , California ) is an American rock musician . He sings , plays bass and guitar .

Career

Blades attended San Diego State University and played in countless local bands during the 1970s. He moved to San Francisco and joined the band Rubicon , in which Brad Gillis also played. In 1980 and 1987, two albums were made, but they were denied commercial success. Then the band broke up.

Night Ranger

After Rubicon broke up, Blades and Gillis formed the band Night Ranger. The first album reached position 38 on the album charts, the single Sister Christian from the second album reached position 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 . After another very successful album in 1985, Big Life was a commercial flop in 1987, after which the band broke up the following year. In 1998 the band was re-established, and Blades was involved again.

Damn Yankees

In 1989 he was one of the founding members of the Damn Yankees supergroup , which included Ted Nugent , Tommy Shaw from Styx and Michael Cartellone , who would later become Lynyrd Skynyrd's drummer . With her, Blades released the album Damn Yankees , the single High Enough of which reached number 3 on the Billboard charts in January 1990. The album was awarded double platinum . In 1992, the second album, Don't Tread , was released, which was also awarded platinum, but sold poorly.

solo

Together with Tommy Shaw, the joint album Hallucination was created under the name Shaw Blades in 1995 and Influence in 2007 . In 2004 he recorded his first self-titled solo album . He has also worked as a studio musician for Mötley Crüe , Ringo Starr , Vince Neil and others , and has composed for Roger Daltrey , Alice Cooper and Aerosmith . His second solo album, Rock 'n Roll Ride , was released in 2012 .
