The two singles that were first released reached the US singles charts , but could only reach places 60 ( Coming of Age ) and 50 ( Come Again ). Only High Enough became a top ten hit and reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January 1991. The song was the only track released from the album that also made it to the charts in Europe : In Great Britain the song reached number 81 the charts and stayed in the hit list for four weeks.

High Enough's single success in the US also boosted sales for the album and helped Damn Yankees reach # 13 on the Billboard 200 in February 1991 .

The magazine "Audio" wrote about the album, the album would offer "Powersound and wild guitar duels"; "Less tough spirits" would also enjoy what "creamier vocals and ballads" would take care of. The conclusion: "Top!"

In Rock Hard magazine , Wolfgang Schäfer came to the conclusion that the Damn Yankees were "completely free of all musical constraints" . The album surprised "in its musical diversity". “From the pounding opener 'Coming Of Age' to the soulfully arranged 'High Enough' enriched with strings to the Whitesnake-heavy 'Mystified' and the rocking final hammer 'Piledriver (The Love Song)'” , “everything is represented here make the heart of every hard rock fan beat faster ” . The album is a “colorful cocktail” which “is easily digestible and drinkable, actually leaves nothing to be desired” . Schäfer awarded 7.5 out of a possible 10 points.

On July 5, 1990 the album was awarded a gold record for 500,000 units sold, on January 8, 1991 with platinum. The double platinum award took place on August 17, 1994.
