Rockdale is a deserted city in King County , Washington state . The GNIS classifies Rockdale as an "inhabited place".

A post office called "Rockdale" was opened in 1912 and remained in operation until 1915. The municipality in the Cascade Range was named after the many rocks in the vicinity of the location. Located just south of Snoqualmie Pass , it formed the west portal of the Snoqualmie Tunnel , which was built by the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad ("The Milwaukee Road") from 1912 to 1914.

Rockdale is about 120 m above and south of the eastbound directional lanes of Interstate 90 , the former US Highway 10 , at an altitude of about 760 m above sea ​​level .

The tunnel and the route are part of the Iron Horse State Park as a rail trail .
