course
The Nespelem River has its source in eastern Okanogan County and flows south. It takes in several small tributaries, including Stepstone Creek, North Star Creek, and Armstrong Creek, before passing through the small town of Nespelem, Washington , the headquarters of the Colville Indian Reservation.
Below the city, the Nespelem River turns west. The Little Nespelem River flows into it just before it flows into the Columbia River. It reaches the Columbia several miles below the Grand Coulee Dam and many miles above the Chief Joseph Dam . The Columbia River dammed by the Chief Joseph Dam is called Rufus Woods Lake at the mouth of the Nespelem River .
