Rockensußra is a district of the city of Ebeleben in Thuringia .

location

The rural town is located about 2 km southwest of Ebeleben in the middle of an intensely arable field. In the north Rockensussra is affected by the disused railway line Mühlhausen-Ebeleben , in the south by the federal highway 249 . history

At the beginning of the 9th century, Sussra was first mentioned as Suzare in a list of the goods lent by Archbishop Lullus († 786) of Mainz to the monastery of Hersfeld von Free . On May 12, 1279, the first documentary mention of the settlement Rockensussra was archived in Rockensussra in the document book Erfurter Stifter I 490. After that, the place belonged to the Lords of Ebeleben for centuries. In 1720, the new St. Petri Church was built. In 1897 the place received a rail connection via the Ebeleben – Mühlhausen railway line, but passenger traffic on the EbelebenSchlotheim section was discontinued in 1974. Since 1994 Rockensußra has been part of the unified community Ebeleben.
