Roger Degueldre

Roger Hercule Gustave Degueldre (* 1925 in Louvroil , Département Nord , † July 6, 1962 in Ivry-sur-Seine ) was the French commander of terrorist units of the underground organization OAS . He commanded the so-called Delta Commandos in the last months of the French rule over Algeria ( Algerian War ). According to his own information, he came from northern France.

Degueldre, a veteran of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu , deserted the Foreign Legion in 1960 . He began to be active at the OAS and is said to have recruited up to 500 members.

He was arrested on April 7, 1962, sentenced to death on June 28, 1962 and executed by firing squad on July 6, 1962 in Fort d'Ivry near Paris . He was buried in the Gonards Cemetery in Versailles .
