Roger Herbst (bourgeois Hans Walter Herbst ) (born June 15, 1945 in Grebenhain , † August 16, 1980 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German actor .

life and work

Roger Herbst learned the hairdressing trade and received acting lessons at the Alice George drama school in Frankfurt am Main, among others together with Heinz Werner Kraehkamp . During this time, as Walter Herbst, he got his first film role in Oswalt Kolles Your Man, the Unknown Being .

Roger Herbst, often described as handsome and a heartthrob, became known to a wide audience from 1972 to 1975 when he played the second leading role as Peter Proud in the 39-part ZDF series On behalf of Madame alongside Horst Keitel . Since he did not receive any other role offers after this series, he opened a men's hairdressing salon, whose customers are said to have included Bundesliga players Jürgen Grabowski and Bernd Hölzenbein . Herbst also tried his hand at singing, in 1975 the single Hildegard was released .

Roger Herbst last lived in the Neu-Isenburg district of Gravenbruch . On August 15, 1980, he had an accident with his car on Mörfelder Landstrasse in Frankfurt, when he collided with an oncoming truck while overtaking shortly before midnight. Herbst died the following day in the Frankfurt Hospital of the Holy Spirit . Around 200 guests attended the funeral service. On August 22, 1980, he was buried in an urn grave that has since been abandoned at the Neu-Isenburg forest cemetery.
