occupation

IOB special order was an early evening series by ZDF . It ran in two seasons of 13 episodes each in 1980 and 1981 on Mondays at 6:20 p.m. Each episode was 25 minutes long. The producer was Horst Lockau with his Hamburg film and television production. The scripts came from different authors, the music from Siegfried Franz . As directors recorded Hans-Jürgen Tögel , Wolfgang Schleif and Peter Meincke responsible.

action

Bernhard Horn heads the Hamburg branch of the global detective agency IOB. His man for special assignments is Mike Jackson, a former FBI agent of German-American descent. The young Viennese Catherine Burger supports Jackson in his investigations. Eva Kehrer is Horn's assistant who works on the computer connected to the London headquarters. The spectrum of cases covers a wide range of crime.

Others

Those in charge took advantage of Percy Stuart's popularity, which had already been a few years ago , although Claus Wilcke actually did not want to play such a role anymore, but then allowed himself to be persuaded, especially since the success at that time had resulted in a number of interesting stage roles for him. Before the completion of the first season, the shooting of which began in May 1978 under the working title IOB, Pinkerton's Heirs , a second was commissioned, but it was ultimately broadcast as the first. The reason for this exchange is said to have been the beard Wilckes, which he wore when filming the first season and who seemed too serious to the program makers. The production costs amounted to about 2,000,000 DM per season .

Similar to Percy Stuart and the follow-up series On behalf of Madame , the filming took place largely abroad, in the second season mainly in Spain. For this reason, many roles were also cast with Spanish actors.

Each episode began with Jackson driving his green Porsche, equipped with the latest technology (including a videophone), into the underground car park of a Hamburg office building and from there taking the elevator to the detective agency's office.

In episode 1 of the first season ( Boxer Rebellion ), Roger Herbst played his probably last role. He died on August 16, 1980 as a result of a serious traffic accident.
