Manoel Ponto

Manoel Ponto (* 1949 in Stuttgart ; † January 29, 1996 ) was a German actor and radio play speaker .

Life

Manoel Ponto comes from a family of actors; his grandfather Erich Ponto was well known as a stage and film actor, and his father Klaus Ponto and his mother were actors too . It was named after the Manolo Theater in Madrid , which belonged to his godfather. Ponto went to high school in Stuttgart , but left school before graduation and worked as a waiter in a cousin's jazz bar. He escaped military service due to training at the State Drama School in Stuttgart, which his father provided .

After that, Ponto played early theater roles mainly as a "youthful lover", such as in Saarbrücken . From 1978 he was mainly seen at the Altona Theater in Hamburg (debut as Valère in Molière's The Miser ). He played numerous roles there, including the Lord Goring in Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband in 1985 and the "false auditor" in 1991, the Chlestakow in Gogol's The Auditor . In 1994 he appeared in a leading role in Chekhov's The Three Sisters at the Ernst Deutsch Theater in Hamburg .

He also worked at the theater for children in Hamburg-Altona, where he played the fox in Goethe's fable Reineke Fuchs in 1980 . In addition, Ponto has acted as a speaker for numerous commercial radio plays .
