Hans-Peter Kurr

Hans-Peter Kurr (born June 29, 1937 in Bielefeld ; † April 4, 2016  in Hamburg ) was a German actor and director .

Life

After graduating from high school, Hans-Peter Kurr first studied Egyptology at the University of Hamburg and wrote two books on the history of Egyptian religion. This was followed by a two-year training as an editor and photographer, after which he worked as a foreign correspondent for various newspapers around the world. Afterwards, Kurr completed an acting and directing degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. He took further courses in rhetoric with Professor Walter Jens at the University of Tübingen and in theater history at the universities in Vienna and Munich . As an assistant director he worked a. a. with Harry Buckwitz , Arno Assmann and Hans Quest , later he worked as a director at theaters in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Cologne and London as well as at the Bad Hersfeld Festival . From 1981 to 1984 he was chief dramaturge at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater in Hamburg . In January 2015, the Freemason Kurr retired as a stage actor, but continued to work as a director and wrote cultural and theater reviews. He also taught theater history at the Free Drama School in Hamburg .

In addition to his stage work, Kurr was seen sporadically on the screen until the 1990s, for example in two episodes of the series The Lawyer , in the metropolitan area or in a crime scene episode.

Hans-Peter Kurr was a member of the Hamburg St. Johannis Lodge Zum Rothen Adler .

Kurr lived in Hamburg until his death. He found his final resting place in the Ohlsdorf cemetery at Chapel 10. (Grave location S29-259)
