Roger Kjendalen (born June 6, 1965 in Norway ) is a former Norwegian handball player who was mainly used on the position of the center backcourt .

Career

The 1.92 m tall right-handed player began playing handball in his home country at IF Urædd, with which he was Norwegian champion and cup winner in 1986 and 1987, and player of the year in 1987. In 1988 he moved to the German association TuS Schutterwald for three years . After returning to Norway in the meantime and becoming champions with Runar Sandefjord in 1993 and 1994 and top scorer in 1994, he signed with second division VfL Fredenbeck in 1994 , with whom he immediately made it to the upper house. In 1996 SG Flensburg-Handewitt signed the playmaker. With the SG he won the EHF Cup in 1996/97 and the Euro City Cup in 1999. In 2000, he joined the Swiss club GC Amicitia Zurich , but left after only one season for Drammen HK . He only stayed there for one season, after which he returned to his hometown club Sandefjord TIF , where he ended his career as a playing assistant coach after two championships in 2003 and 2004.

With the Norwegian national team , the 242-time selection player took part in the 1993 World Cup. With 930 goals scored between 1985 and 1998, he is Norway's top scorer.

In 2011 he took over the trainer position at Sandefjord for a year for the sick Eivind Ellingsen.

Private

Roger Kjendalen is married to Eli and has two sons. He works as a physical education teacher at a high school in Sandefjord.
