EHF Cup 1996/97

At the EHF Cup 1996/97 33 took Handball part -Vereinsmannschaften, who had qualified in the previous season in their home leagues for the competition. The defending champion was BM Granollers . It was the 16th edition of the EHF Cup or the IHF Cup. The cup games began on September 4, 1998, the second final took place on April 19, 1999. In the final, SG Flensburg-Handewitt prevailed against Virum-Sorgenfri HK .

mode

The competition started with an elimination round with one game. The winner made it to the sixteenth finals. All rounds including the final were carried out in a knockout system with a return leg.
