EHF Cup 2001/02

At the EHF Cup 2001/02 59 took Handball part -Vereinsmannschaften, who had qualified in the previous season in their home leagues for the competition. It was the 21st edition of the EHF Cup and the IHF Cup. The defending champion was SC Magdeburg . The cup games began on September 15, 2001, the second final took place on April 28, 2002. In the final, THW Kiel prevailed against FC Barcelona .

mode

All rounds including the final were carried out in a knockout system with a return leg. In round 1, 22 lower-rated clubs started the competition. In round 2 there were 13 more teams who had also qualified in their home leagues in the previous season and the 8 losers in the first round of the EHF Champions League 2000/01 . In round 3, another 8 higher-rated teams joined the team, plus the 8 losers from the second round from the Champions League.
