The German sports press often uses the spelling Andrej Tschepkin , which is incorrect. The correct German transcription of his name from the Ukrainian is Andrij Schtschepkin or Andrei Schtschepkin when transcribing from Russian. However, since Xepkin took on Spanish citizenship in 1998, his name was changed to Andrei Xepkin , which is the Catalan transcription of his name.
