Roger Lutz (born July 15, 1964 in Linden ) is a former German soccer player .

Athletic career

Roger Lutz moved in 1987 from FK Clausen , to which he had come from FV Linden in 1931, to 1. FC Kaiserslautern , where he spent his entire professional career until 2000. It is noteworthy that Roger Lutz, like his brother Jürgen Lutz , interrupted his professional career in favor of his studies and thus voluntarily renounced his prime as a professional in order to then return to the squad as an amateur after obtaining his diploma (civil engineering), after which he then his won second German championship. Together with his cousin Kai Vatter, himself a well-known regional soccer player, he ran an engineering office in Linden from 2000 to 2007.

Statistically speaking, the defender is one of the most successful FCK players. Lutz won the German championship twice with Kaiserslautern (1991, 1998) and the DFB Cup twice (1990, 1996). He is next to Axel Roos the most successful FCK player after titles. Lutz ended his playing career in Luxembourg with the F91 Dudelange . There he also won the Luxembourg championship twice in 2001 and 2002. From 2002 to 2004 Lutz was on the board of directors of the FCK. From 2008 to 2011 Roger Lutz was eligible to play for the district league club SV Erlenbach , but did not play a game for the southern Palatinate club during this time.

In 2003/04 he acted as player- coach at F91 Dudelange , where he was the Luxembourg Cup winner, in 2004/05 as a coach at Jeunesse Esch and from 2005 to 2007 at SC Hauenstein . From June 2007 to February 2008 he worked alongside head coach Kjetil Rekdal as an assistant coach at 1. FC Kaiserslautern . A short time after his release, however, he resumed his work as an assistant coach under the new FCK coach Milan Šašić . In addition, he has held the position of team manager since the 2008/09 season. Also in the 2009/10 season he held the positions of team manager and assistant coach at 1. FC Kaiserslautern, with whom he was promoted to the 1. Bundesliga as champions of the 2. Bundesliga. Since summer 2011 he has been working exclusively as a team manager.
