Roger Xhonneux

Roger Xhonneux (born June 4, 1954 in Eupen , Belgium ) is a Belgian handball referee .

Life

Xhonneux was a player, later coach of various club and selection teams, and founder of the Femina Raeren and HC St. Vith clubs ; in addition, he headed the HC 1976 Raeren for many years .

Roger Xhonneux, who grew up in Raeren , began at the age of 19 as a referee in the first Belgian division in Belgium and became referee of the International Handball Federation (IHF) in 1987 together with his partner Klaus Dieter Convents . High points of his career were the participation in two "A" World Championships in Korea and Sweden, as well as the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.

After his active career, Xhonneux became head of referee for the Vlaamse Handball Vereniging (VHV) and the Belgian Handball Federation (BHB-UBH) . He was also appointed to the mentoring group of the European Handball Federation (EHF) and shortly thereafter a member of the Rules and Referee Commission of the International Handball Federation . He took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004) as a functionary in addition to the handball world championships. Xhonneux is promoting beach handball as a new sport.

Roger Xhonneux is a professional managing director of an electrical company. Xhonneux, married in 1973, has two sons.
