Roger of Todi
Roger of Todi (* in Todi ; † January 5, 1237 there) was an Italian Franciscan .
Life
Roger joined the Order of the Franciscans in 1216 - according to late testimony, he was accepted by Francis himself, who sent him to Spain with other brothers in 1217. After his return he became spiritual director of the Clarissian monastery founded by Philippa Mareri in 1228 in Borgo San Pietro di Petrella Salto . His charity and strict adherence to the rule of the order were particularly praised. 16 miracles were attributed to him. Roger's veneration was given to Pope Gregory IX in 1236 . for Todi and on April 24, 1751 by Pope Benedict XIV. admitted to the Franciscan order. The day of remembrance used to be March 5th, now it is January 5th. His festival is now only celebrated in the Franciscan province of Umbria.
