Rogil is a village and a municipality in the south of Portugal , in the western Algarve . Its coast belongs to the Natural Park Parque Natural do Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina .

Finds show that the area has been settled since the Paleolithic .

The present day Rogil developed late. In 1889 there were about 40 houses in today's municipality, scattered on different hills. Rogil developed into the largest town, with 19 households in 1911 and over 50 in 1949.

In 1898, the now dissolved district of Aljezur became independent again, with the communities of Aljezur, Bordeira and Odeceixe . Rogil belonged to the municipality of Aljezur. In 1993, Rogil finally became an independent municipality in Aljezur County.
