Rohnert Park is a planned city in Sonoma County in the US state of California , United States . It was designed and built based on plans from Levittown, Pennsylvania . The city of 40,971 (as of 2010) is located about 80 km north of San Francisco .

The city is the seat of Sonoma State University , which is part of the California State University system.

Since November 5th, 2013 there is a casino in Rohnert Park belonging to an Indian tribe called "Graton Resort & Casino". It is a large casino with 3000 slot machines and 144 gaming tables, comparable to the casinos in Las Vegas . The ban on gambling in California does not apply to Indian tribes as they are sovereign on their land.

The Rogers Creek Fault is a geological fault that causes earthquakes in the Rohnert Park area. The San Andreas Fault can also have an impact on Rohnert Park.
