Roi Klein
Roi Klein ( Hebrew רועי קליין ; * July 10, 1975 in Raʿanana ; † July 26, 2006 in Bint Jubail ) was a major in the Golani Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces .
Life
Klein grew up in Raanana . After visiting the Bnei David Yeshiva , he moved to Eli , an Israeli settlement in the West Bank .
He did his military service in the paratrooper brigade . Klein later served as a professional soldier in the Egoz unit of the Golani Brigade. In a battle in Bint Jubail during the Second Lebanon War , he died when he threw himself on a grenade to save other soldiers in his unit. Klein was most recently deputy commander of the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade (elite unit of the Golani Brigade).
Klein was buried on July 27, 2006 in the National Cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem . He was married and had two children.
Honors
Klein received posthumously the Medal of Honor of Israeli forces , the Medal of Valor , awarded. The Roi Klein School in Netanya and the Roi Klein High School in Ra'anana were named after him.
