The Rojental , also simply called Rojen ( Italian Valle Roia ), is a side valley of the Vinschgau or upper Adige Valley in the extreme northwest of South Tyrol in Italy . It branches off at Lake Reschen in a south-westerly direction and leads into the mountains of the Sesvenna group. The entire valley with the village of Rojen belongs administratively to the municipality of Graun im Vinschgau .

The mountain ridge accompanying the Rojental to the west bears the border with the Swiss canton of Graubünden . In the interior of the valley, the course divides into the side branches of the Grion valley and the Vallung valley , which in the south reaches as far as the head of the Zerz valley .

The mountain peaks surrounding the valley include (counterclockwise from west to south to east):

  • Jochbodenkopf / Piz Rusenna (2802 m)
  • Outer cam head (2776 m),
  • Inner cam head (2772 m),
  • Grionkopf (2896 m),
  • Piz Rasass (2941 m) with transition to the Sesvennahütte
  • Seebodenspitz (2859 m) with transition to Haideralm
  • Vallungkopf (2643 m)
  • Rojener sundial , consisting of
    • Zehnerkopf (2675 m)
    • Elferspitze (2926 m)
    • Zwölferkopf (2783 m)
