Rokas Bernotas

Rokas Bernotas (born August 2, 1952 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian diplomat and politician, Vice Minister.

Life

After graduating from secondary school, he completed a diploma in chemistry from 1970 to 1975 at the Vilniaus universitetas (VU). In 1985 he received his PhD in organic chemistry from the Kauno politechnikos institutas . From 1992 to 1993 he continued his education at Oxford University . From 1975 to 1991 he was a research assistant at VU. Since 1991 he has been working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania . He headed a sub-department, from 2003 to 2006 a department as department director and was ambassador to Italy. From 1992 to 1993 he was Vice Minister . Between 2010 and 2014 he was ambassador to Kazakhstan and after a brief interlude in the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he was appointed ambassador to Afghanistan in 2015.
