Aurimas Taurantas (born February 7, 1956 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian politician and diplomat .

Life

After graduating from S. Nėris Middle School in Kaunas in 1974 , he graduated from Kauno politechnikos institutas with a diploma in applied mathematics in 1979 . From 1979 to 1990 he worked as an engineer at the Research Institute for Radio Measurement Technology in Kaunas. From 1990 to 1992 he was a " Sąjūdis " member deputate in the Seimas . From 1992 to 1993 he worked at the Ministry of Transport of Lithuania and then at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania . From 1994 to 1999 he was ambassador to the Council of Europe in Brussels, from 2002 to 2006 in England, and from 2010 in the Czech Republic .
