Rola El-Halabi (born March 17, 1985 in Beirut , Lebanon ) is a German former professional boxer of Lebanese origin and world champion of the WBF , WIBF and WIBA.
Life
El-Halabi came to Germany with her Lebanese parents when she was one year old. Immediately afterwards, her father left her mother. Her brother comes from her stepfather's marriage to her mother. In 1994 she started with kick and Thai boxing ; Amateur boxing was added in 1996 . She has had German citizenship since 2004. After being an amateur a. a. Vice-world champion in kickboxing and multiple international German champion in amateur boxing, she switched to the professional camp in October 2006 after finishing her high school (Abitur 2005). Since September 30, 2007, Rola El-Halabi has been the WIBF European lightweight champion. In October 2008 she was honored as an outstanding athlete in her hometown of Ulm . On June 5, 2009 she won the WIBF and WIBA World Championship titles in Neu-Ulm with a win against Loly Munoz (Spain).
On April 1, 2011, right before a title fight against the Bosnian Irma Adler in Berlin-Karlshorst, Rola El-Halabi was transferred to one hand by her stepfather Hicham El-Halabi, from whom she had separated in his role as a manager in January 2011 one knee and both feet shot. The background to the fact was apparently that Rola El-Halabi had entered into a relationship with a married man of Greek origin. In September 2011, the criminal trial against Hicham El-Halabi began before the Berlin Regional Court . When the judge asked about her sporting future, Rola El-Halabi replied: “Hope never dies, I can't assess it yet, there is no way out at the moment.” On November 14, 2011, the Berlin district court sentenced the stepfather to six in the first instance Years imprisonment.
On January 12, 2013 El-Halabi lost her attempt at a comeback in the Neu-Ulm Ratiopharm Arena against the 33-year-old German-Italian Lucia Morelli just on points. She announced in the ring that she would try again.
In August El-Halabi then fought for the Hungarian WBF title against Dalia Vasarheliy and defended the title against Sopio Putkaradze in September of the same year. In March 2014 she defended the WBF title again and won the vacant WIBA and UBF titles by beating Victoria Cisneros in Ulm.
Parallel to her training, she gives motivational lectures and shows how to deal with setbacks in order to get back to the top. In 2013 she published an autobiography with the journalist Felicia Englmann entitled Stehaufmädchen . In August 2013 she won the WBF title fight in the light welterweight division, the next weight class above lightweight, against the Hungarian Dalia Vasarhelyi and became world champion again. A month later she successfully defended this title against Sopo Putkaradze in Saarbrücken. In 2013/14 the Ulm town hall dedicated an exhibition to her with photos by Andreas Reiner, who was also allowed to accompany Rola El-Halabi exclusively behind the scenes for many years.
In November 2016, El-Halabi announced her resignation. She is married to her boyfriend at the time in Greece and runs a martial arts school with him in Thessaloniki . You have two children.
