Roland Christian Grafe

Roland Christian Grafe (born May 28, 1952 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German diplomat .

Life

Grafe completed after high school to study social and economic sciences at the University of Marburg , the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg and the University of Mannheim and was meanwhile 1978-1979 research student at the European University Institute in Florence .

In 1980 he joined the Foreign Service and in 1982, after passing his career examination, he was employed at the embassy in Afghanistan , before he worked at the embassy in Myanmar as a press and culture officer between 1983 and 1986 . After working as a consultant in Political Department 2 at the Foreign Office in Bonn from 1986 to 1989 , he worked as an economic consultant at the embassy in Norway between 1990 and 1991 .

Grafe was permanent representative of the ambassador in Bangladesh from 1992 and 1996 and then between 1996 and 2000 deputy head of division in the disarmament department at the Foreign Office. After a subsequent assignment from 2000 to 2004 as Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to the Philippines , between 2004 and 2006 he was Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Malaysia . From 2006 to 2009 he was head of the economic department of the embassy in Switzerland and between 2009 and 2012 he was head of division in the disarmament department of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin .

From 2012 to 2017 Grafe was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Brunei .
