Roland Desch (born February 12, 1953 in Frankfurt am Main ) was President of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Hesse .

Life

In 1971 he entered the police force as a side entry . By 1973 he completed his training as a freelance applicant in the crime department of the Frankfurt am Main police headquarters. He was then a clerk in the crime department for two years and passed the second specialist examination. During this time he was also appointed detective inspector. He spent the next eight years as a clerk at K 11 at the Frankfurt am Main Police Headquarters . This was also followed by the third specialist examination and appointment to the criminal councilor. From 1983 to 1986 Desch was the main subject area manager and deputy department head of Dept. II in the Hessian State Criminal Police Office . He then worked for the next two years as Head of Inspection K 60 at the Frankfurt am Main Police Headquarters and for another six years as Head of Inspection K 10 at the Frankfurt am Main Police Headquarters. From 1994 to 1998 he worked as a lecturer in forensics and criminology at the Police Leadership Academy in Münster-Hiltrup. He then worked as the head of the deployment department at the Darmstadt police headquarters and for one year as the head of the deployment department at the South Hesse police headquarters . Until 2002, wearing a bow tie every day was his trademark. From 2002 to 2004 Desch acted as a speaker in the LPP 1 deployment department . For the next four years he was finally appointed police vice-president of the police headquarters in South Hesse. In addition, from January to May 2006 he was acting head of the LPP 1 department.

Roland Desch has been Vice President of the Hessian State Criminal Police Office since March 2008, where he mainly dealt with tasks in the field of politically motivated crime. He played a key role in the development of the FUBIS concept - early detection and fight against Islamist extremism / terrorism and was instrumental in the investigative proceedings surrounding the so-called Sauerland Group . He has extensive experience in connection with the current phenomena of right-wing extremism and in the area of ​​politically motivated crime in connection with the expansion of Frankfurt Airport . From June 21, 2010 to February 8, 2015, Desch was also President of the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution in Hesse. With effect from February 9, 2015 Desch was put into temporary retirement by the Hessian Interior Minister Peter Beuth . Robert Schäfer was appointed to the office as his successor .

Since then, Roland Desch has been active as a Darmstadt citizen in local politics, he was elected deputy CDU district chairman, has been a member since spring 2016 and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in Darmstadt city parliament from September 2017. He is married and has one child.
