Career

Leo Mansell began his motorsport career in 2005 together with his brother Greg in karting . In 2006 the two switched to the British Formula BMW . In contrast to his brother, who was 14th overall, he couldn't score any points. After the two brothers had already competed as guest drivers in a race in the British Formula 3 Championship in 2006 , they both drove in this series for Fortec Motorsport in 2007 . While Leo Mansell could only score points in one race and finished 17th overall at the end of the season, his brother Greg was tenth with three podium finishes.

In 2008 Leo and Greg Mansell left Europe and competed in Formula Atlantic for the Walker Racing team . While Greg Mansell finished tenth in the overall standings with several placements among the top ten drivers at the end of the season, Leo, who was 19th, had to admit defeat to his younger brother again. In 2009 the two brothers started in various racing series for the first time and Leo Mansell switched to the Le Mans Series . The Brit started for Team Modena in a Ferrari F430 GT and at the end of the season finished third in the LMGT2 with a win. He also started for his team in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished the race in seventh place in the GT2 classification.

In 2010 he moved within the Le Mans Series to his father's team, Nigel Beechdean Mansell , for which he competes with his brother Greg. Nigel Mansell also actively supports the two sons as drivers in some of the series' runs and in the 2010 Le Mans 24-hour race .
